U.S. Banker Recognizes Susan Horton

WHEATLAND BANK’S CEO NAMED #21 ON U.S. BANKER MAGAZINE’S 25 WOMEN TO WATCH LIST

(SPOKANE) The October 2008 issue of U.S. Banker Magazine (USB) recently named Wheatland Bank’s Chairman, CEO and President, Susan Horton, as one of the 25 Women to Watch. Every year U.S. Banker magazine honors the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking and pays tribute to the achievements, tenacity and influence of top-performing financial executives. In 2008, the magazine considered the performance of 4,700 executives before compiling its ranking of the most influential women, which also includes The 25 Women to Watch. Susan was ranked 21st.

Susan was commended for her vision and leadership skills, for her assistance in executing Wheatland Bank’s expansion strategy, and her ability to hold on to twice as much capital as required by the FDIC to be well capitalized, and maintain excellent asset quality. Susan credits the team she has built for helping the bank thrive.

According to U.S. Banker, "The methodology for ranking measures both quantitative and qualitative aspects of an individual’s performance, gauging overall influence on the institution, the industry and the community in which she lives and works."

Susan Horton, also a certified public accountant, took over as CEO of Wheatland Bank in 1999. She has led the Bank through dynamic strategic change, expanding into four new markets in 2008.
